Iranian Philosophical Insights about Light and its Embodiment in Painting

Abstract

This study seeks to answer the question of how light has been manifested in Iranian miniature and if this kind of embodiment is related to the Iranian philo-sophical insight about the divine lights and the kingdom of heaven. In order to find an answer to this question, at first, Iranian intellectual, philosophical and intuitive schools with respect to light are explained in light of their transposition dates (Mazdaean, Manichean, Islamic and mystical lines of thinking). While dis-cussing each of these schools with reference to written documents, we examine the symbolic effects of the realization of these concepts in Iranian miniature. Also, characteristics of the kingdom of heaven and its relation to the world of miniature are studied. Finally, we have discussed the conformity between Iranian philosophical insights into the light and its embodiment methods in miniature, using witness pictures

   پژوهش حاضر در جستجوی یافتن پاسخی به این پرسش است که نوع تجسم نور در نگارگری ایران چگونه بوده است و این که آیا این نوع از تجسم می‌تواند مرتبط با نوع بینش فلسفی ایرانیان دربارة انوار الهی و جهان ملکوت باشد؟در پاسخ به این پرسش، ابتدا مکاتب فکری، فلسفی و بینشی ایرانیان نسبت به نور،‌ با رعایت تقدم و تأخر تاریخی آن (تفکر مزدایی، مانوی، اسلامی ـ عرفانی) شرح داده شده است، ضمن ورود به هرکدام از این مباحث با استناد به اسناد مکتوب، به بررسی جلوه‌های نمادین تجسم این مفاهیم در هنر نگارگری ایران پرداخته شده است. همچنین ویژ گی های عالم ملکوت و چگونگی نسبت آن با عالم نگارگری مورد بررسی قرار گرفته است و در نهایت وجود نوعی انطباق بین بینش فلسفی ایرانیان در خصوص نور و شیوه‌های تجسم آن در نگارگری آشکار شد که توسط تعدادی تصاویر شاهد تحلیل گردیده است
