Abstract
Introduction: With the emergence of generative technologies, the necessity to revise art education programs has become more pronounced. In this research, which aims to explore the fundamental impacts of artificial intelligence on the paradigm of art education and to elucidate the challenges facing individual creativity and artistic legitimacy, the main question of the study is how to preserve the authenticity of artistic works and establish new criteria for evaluating educational quality within the framework of a network society.
Research Method: This study adopts a qualitative, descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing the theoretical frameworks of Pierre Bourdieu (cultural capital and the field of art) and Manuel Castells (network society and informational economy), to analyze data obtained from library sources (2017-2024) and workshop experiences.
Findings: The research indicates that artificial intelligence, beyond serving as an educational tool, has redefined creativity, cultural capital, and evaluation methods in art education. Additionally, students’ conscious management of artificial intelligence tools prevents the homogenization of work and helps preserve individual creativity. Therefore, the evaluation of art education should shift from a product-oriented approach to a process-oriented, evidence-based evaluation.
Conclusion: The research results indicate that the main issue in art education in the age of artificial intelligence is not the use or non-use of this technology, but rather its conscious management in the artistic creation process. In this framework, the preservation of the authenticity and creativity of works depends on the student’s strategic role in guiding the ideation and production processes. Accordingly, revising curricula, establishing a process-oriented evaluation system, and developing ethical frameworks for the use of artificial intelligence are considered essential to transforming art education in a network society.
